Dover Beach Hotel, the 59-room family owned and run resort, last night honoured staff members as the company’s celebrated its 40th anniversary since being opened by Barbadian Jeff Kinch.
During a staff recognition ceremony at Almond Bay Caterers, Christ Church, Kinch’s daughter and CEO, Adua Kinch recalled that her father opened the St Lawrence Gap hospitality business with 27 rooms after returning from service in the British army.
She said, “determined to make his mark in the area of hospitality in his beloved country,” Kinch and wife, Ethnie Weekes, “started out with a vision and a prayer”, and along with dedicated employees brought the hotel to what it is today.
Describing staff as ‘central to our success’ the CEO said company employees have 408 years combined service to the hotel with 61 per cent being there for 5 years or more.
Thirty members of staff have served for 15 years; five for 20; and two for over 25 years.
