Digicel happy to help!

Digicel is the official telecommunications provider for the Barbados Olympic Association 2012.

Digicel is the official telecommunications provider for the Barbados Olympic Association 2012, now in London, England for the Olympics Games.

The team comprising of coaches in judo, swimming and athletics, the team’s doctor, physiotherapists, and managers headed by Chef de Mission, Cameron Burke, recently left the island for London.

To ensure that the team will be in regular contact while away, and provide frequent updates on the athletes’ progress, Digicel donated 10 high-end Samsung phones and airtime to the Barbados Olympic Association.

Digicel’s Commercial Director, Alex Tasker, stated that the company was proud to be the official telecommunications partner for the BOA.

“Digicel is pleased to once again support the Barbados Olympic Association, and like all Barbadians, we look forward to the updates from London on the success of the team,” he said.

In accepting the handsets, the president of the association expressed gratitude to Digicel.

“The Barbados Olympic Association’s entourage to the London 2012 Olympic Games welcomes the kind donation and communication support from Digicel. The handsets and service will be extremely important in assisting our team to communicate during the London Games.

“We welcome the partnership with Digicel as the official communications provider for the Barbados London Team 2012 and we look forward to Digicel’s continued support as we aim towards London and beyond,” he stated.

The team’s management includes Dr Adrian Lorde, Ian Weithers, Josh White, Wayne Harris, Alwyn Harris, Esther Maynard and Burke. They are accompanying Bradley Alley who is competing in Men’s 100m backstroke, Men’s 200M and 400M, while Greggmar Swift, Ryan and Shane Brathwaite will take on the 100m hurdles, Ramon Gittens in the 100m and Kyle Maxwell will vie for a medal in judo.
