Thirty students from the Ann Hill School for special needs children will have the chance to hear a positive message through the medium of music when they attend this tomorrow’s Tell The World – Lecrae concert, thanks to Digicel.

Last week, Digicel partnered with the hosts of the show, Kingdom Culture International to donate 30 tickets to the school for them to attend the show, which takes place at the Kensington Oval and features 2013 Grammy Award winner and international recording hip-hop gospel artiste, Lecrae.

Marketing Executive at Digicel, Randy Howard, said the donation to the school was yet another one of Digicel’s efforts to assist with the positive growth and development of Barbados’ special needs youth.

“We are always looking for ways to positively impact the lives of this special group of persons, as evidenced by our ongoing commitment to the Special Olympics Barbados Inc., our close partnership with Variety, the Children’s Charity, as well as the assistance we provide to the Irving Wilson School, the Challenor Creative Arts and Training Centre, among many others.”

Howard indicated that the telecommunications company saw this concert as an opportunity to assist with the spreading of positive messages to this group of young individuals through a medium to which they could easily relate.

“Being creative in an effort to get positive messages out to the youth is something we at Digicel support and this show is one of those creative ways. By using the medium of popular music and dance performed by young individuals who look, dress and speak like the very youth we are trying to connect with, there’s often a greater chance that the message would be heard and taken in,” Howard added.

Tell the World – Lecrae aims to highlight positive moral values among the youth using the familiar rhythm and genre of hip hop music. The event is also intended to portray that young people having a fun time in song and dance can do so without the elements of drugs, alcohol or vulgar behaviour.
