Lion’s Club John Bourne receiving Farmers Choice Picnic Ham.
Every year the Lions Club of Barbados South spreads holiday cheer to some of the less fortunate persons in several communities across Christ Church by distributing food hampers. This holiday season was made particularly special, as the club was able to present fully cooked Farmer’s Choice Picnic Hams to 10 deserving families through a joint initiative with Hipac Limited, manufacturers of Farmer’s Choice products.
President of the club, Gloria Bryan, noted that their mandate is to assist the less fortunate and in these hard economic times they are seeing a greater need to assist. She added that through the efforts of companies such as Hipac Limited as well as the kindness of other Barbadian citizens, the club was able to meet some of those needs. The food hamper distribution project is one of many initiatives that the club undertakes in assisting families, communities and charities such as the HIV/AIDS Food Bank.
Hipac Limited Sales and Marketing Manager, Mischa Knight, said she was pleased that the company was able to join forces with the Lions Club of Barbados South for this worthy cause. She stated that Barbadians love and support the Farmer’s Choice brand year round and the company was glad to be in a position to give back, especially during the Christmas season.
“We know that Barbadians love ham and equally they love Farmer’s Choice, so this is our way of sharing with those in the community who may otherwise be unable to have that Bajan tradition of freshly baked ham on Christmas morning.”
