A 48-year-old man, who appeared in court on two criminal charges and tried to verify whether he was the father of his alleged victim’s baby, is out on $2,500 bail.
Treldon Alvin Peters, of Marhole Gap, Halls Road, St Michael, is accused of using the threatening words “I will cuff you in your face” to Amy Goulding on December 14 last year and damaging a window and two candles belonging to the same woman on January 27 this year.
There were no objections to bail from Sergeant Theodore McClean who requested that Peters stays away from Goulding with whom he had an intimate relationship.
However, that order appeared to have riled up Peters who made a bold and impossible request of Magistrate Douglas Frederick.
“She is supposed to be the mother of my child who is three months. I would like you to ask her in the precincts of the court if I am the father,” Peters asked, causing those in attendance to break out into laughter.
“I can’t do that,” an equally stunned Frederick responded before accepting Peters’ surety and adjourning the case until May 9.
