Despite being granted bail, Gregory Rudolph Bobb was remanded to prison for one day after neither of his sureties satisfied the conditions of the court.
Bobb, 39, of Black Rock, St Michael was not required to plead to the indictable charges of stealing over $150, 000 from two people between January and June 2015.
He is accused of stealing $139,112 from Cyril King and $13,000 from Rochelle Wiltshire.
While not objecting to bail, prosecutor Sergeant Neville Reid asked Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to attach the condition that he report to a police station at least twice a week.
And while Bobb’s attorney Dennis Headley asked the court not to set the bail “too high that it might create issues for my client”, the magistrate granted him bail in the sum of $125,000.
However, while two sureties appeared on Bobb’s behalf, neither of the two properties being put forward was insured.
Cuffy-Sargeant then told Headley she would not be able to accept them as sureties, but would need either a title deed for the land or a certificate of insurance.
Neither was presented at the end of the day and Bobb was remanded to HMP Dodds.
