“I hope you can talk to me straight on Friday . . . talk to me on Friday and we will work out something. And don’t tell me all those lies,” Magistrate Douglas Frederick told 33-year-old Nicholas Samuel Borman.
The accused man faces four counts of possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and cultivation.
When asked today what he wanted to say about the matter, Borman testified that he had seen a man “put down a parcel” in Greenfield, St Michael and that he had taken it up.
In response to questioning from the magistrate, he also admitted he knew illegal drugs were in the package.
“I was using [marijuana] plants for my [personal] use. I don’t deal with selling drugs,” the accused man said.
However, based on the facts presented in court, a search warrant was executed at the residence of his girlfriend Katrina Alexander in Bank Hall, St Michael on April 29.
While there, the officers smelled marijuana and later discovered plants growing in the yard.
When a drawer in the living room was searched, greese proof wrappings containing cannabis were also found. Other items of drugs were discovered in various parts of the house.
While Alexander, who was taken into police custody, denied any knowledge of the drugs, Borman later came to the police station and admitted that the drugs, with a total street value of $1,075, belonged to him.
However, the magistrate told Borman today that while he admired him for accepting responsibility for the illicit drugs, he was not happy with his lack of forthrightness in court.
