A homeowner reported Edward Junior George to the police after he caught him scaling his fence.

And today the 22-year-old resident of Kensington New Road, St Michael pleaded guilty to loitering on Adrian Todd’s premises at Rock Gap, Baxter’s Road on Saturday, and while doing so gave cause to suspect that he was there to commit theft.

When the matter came up in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today, Sergeant Theodore McClean reported that Todd had locked his windows, doors and gate on July 1 and left home. He returned the following day in time to see George jump over his fence and land in the road right in front of him. The complainant recognized the man as someone he knew as ‘Coco’. George ran off.

When Todd went inside his house, he noticed the louvres above his door were open.

Today, George apologized for his actions saying, “Me and he [Todd] tight; me and he cool”.

The accused man went on to explain that he went to the house to buy ‘wrappers’ and ‘Fanta’, but after he called and got no answer, “the fence was there and I wasn’t ‘bout walking all back ‘round”.

Asked by Magistrate Douglas Frederick why he had not just leave the premises when he realized Todd was not at home, George replied that Todd even leaves the key with him sometimes when he is going off to work.

In Todd’s absence from the court, Frederick said he had no idea whether that was true. He therefore placed the first-time offender on a six-month bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Any breach of that bond will see George forfeiting $1,500 forthwith or facing a month in prison.

No conviction was recorded against George.
