He is accused of dishonestly obtaining telephone services worth $1 253. 21 from Cable & Wireless Barbados Limited on September 18, with intent to permanently deprive the company, by falsely representing that a Bank of Nova Scotia cheque in that amount, which he presented as payment, was good and valid.

Omena Robert Akpevwiehor, 43, is also accused of trying to dishonestly obtain a $2 100 cellular phone from Cable & Wireless on September 25, by falsely representing that another Bank of Nova Scotia cheque, which he presented was good, valid and would have been honoured.

However, the Cave Hill, St Michael resident denied the charges when he appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes today in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court.

He was granted $5 000 bail.

In the meantime, two other men also pleaded not guilty when they appeared in District ‘D’ yesterday.

Rashadi Camara DaCosta Norman, 26, of Passage Road, St Michael denied stealing a bottle of rum and a bottle of whisky belonging to Jeffrey Evelyn on October 3.

Norman was granted $1 500 bail, while Michael Mayers, of Allen View, Welchman Hall, St Thomas was granted $2,000 bail after he denied a charge of causing serious bodily harm to his uncle Alvin Mayers.

Sergeant Glenda Carter-Nicholls was the prosecutor in the matters, which were all adjourned until March 30, 2016.
