Two 15-year-old boys, who were remanded to the Government Industrial School over their alleged involvement in a violent altercation at St Leonard’s Boys’ School on February 12, were released on bail today.
The minors were granted $2,000 each when they appeared with their attorney, Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim, before Magistrate Douglas Frederick this afternoon.
The teens, who had earlier pleaded guilty to causing the disturbance at the educational institution and to unlawfully wounding 16-year-old Shakeil Ian Nicholls, of 3rd Avenue, Gooding Road, Station Hill, St Michael, are due to return to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on March 14 when a probation report is to be given.
In the meantime, Nicholls and another 16-year-old student, Jaheim Roberto Holder, of Brancker’s Land, Government Hill, St Michael, remain on $5,000 bail each after denying that they had caused a disturbance at their school.
Holder had also pleaded not guilty to assaulting one of the 15-year-old boys, occasioning him actual bodily harm. Both he and Nicholls are due to return to court on April 12.
Until then, they must adhere to a daily 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.
