Griffith, 73, of Block 3A Rock Close, Wildey, St Michael, had been charged with assaulting Sobers on May 16, 2013 and occasioning her actual bodily harm.
However, when Sobers, of Block 3D Rock Close, Wildey, St Michael, took to the witness stand, she informed the court that she was no longer interested in pursuing the matter.
When asked by police prosecutor Station Sergeant Neville Reid whether anyone had threatened her to make the decision, Sobers answered “No, mam.”
She was then questioned on whether the decision was made of her own free will. She said: “Yes, mam.”
Griffith, who is retired, was then ordered to pay $150 by June 3, 2016 to settle the matter.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant then asked the accused when he would be able to pay the sum.
“Mam, cheques pay on Monday. By Tuesday or Thursday,” Griffith replied.
If he does so, the matter will then be dismissed.
