Smokey Burke
Veteran calypsonian and perennial semifinalist Smokey Burke, from the Super Gladiators tent, will be first on stage when the 2017 Pic-O-De-Crop semifinals comes off at Kensington Oval this Friday night.
The 18 semifinalists were announced early last Friday morning at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre after calypsonians from the Cave Shepherd All Stars tent were the last to face the judges.
Yesterday, the semifinalists drew for their positions at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF).
Following Smokey Burke will be former Junior Monarch Ms Sammy G from House of Soca who will be followed by her colleague Billboard. First time semifinalist Ms AC House of Soca will perform at position number 10.
Edwin, from De Big Show, who has returned to the Pic-O-De-Crop stage after more than 20 years, will perform at number 14. AC, also of the tent and a former monarch like Edwin, will close out the night’s performances.
