Coming from the east, north, south and west, Barbadians in their numbers flocked the Farley Hill National Park last Sunday to have a spirit-filled experience at the Flow Gospelfest One Awesome Day event.

Families came out with picnic baskets, blankets and folding chairs to spend quality time in fellowship and also to take in the performances of the various local, regional and international artistes. The rain came but it did not damper the spirits of patrons. They pulled out umbrellas, kept on giving praise, and welcomed the rain as “showers of blessings”.

Hundreds gathered at every possible vantage point to get a glimpse of the wide range of performers. The six hour long event got off to a late start but the artistes compensated with spectacular performances.

Kicking off the show was Vincentian, Hayden Billingy. However, things really got heated up when Vanessa Briggs too to the stage and sang the popular song Better and Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda.

The hype was maintained by singer De Furnace and Axio Nation, an all female band from Trinidad and Tobago.

Bajan Vibes caught up with performer Jaron Nurse who is best known for his song Caribbean Christian. The young minister was extremely well received by the Farley Hill crowd.

“It is always a blessing to perform here in Barbados. I always feel at home,” he said.

In one of his original songs, Nurse encouraged the youth to listen to more positive music. The reason for making this request of young people, he said, was an encounter with a boy about three years old.

“I asked what was his favourite song and he said Down in ya Throat. That really hurt me and God placed this melody and lyrics in my heart,”  he told Bajan Vibes.

MC Imran Richards led the audience in a three-minute prayer session for the nation, the Government and also for relief from the problem of bullying in the schools.

Patrons lifted their voices heavenward while singing Worthy is the Lamb.

Sinach, the headliner of the show, did not disappoint. She finished off the show with a bang, singing her popular songs Way Maker, I Know Who I am and The Name of Jesus.

In response, the crowd shouted, offered up praise and danced along.
