What better way to reach a young demographic than to let them speak for themselves? This will be the approach taken when high energy dance troupe, N3W MOTION and gospel group Divine Harmony are featured at Love, Poetry and Song, a fund-raising event for the HIV Food Bank.

Formed in June 2010, N3W MOTION’s five-member, all-female team has added a number of performances to its portfolio, including pageants, concerts and festivals. Led by Sacha Clarke, the group’s repertoire includes hip hop, modern, passa, and African dance; and despite their youth, with members aged between 15 and 19 years old, the ladies possess a combined half century of experience in their field.

The Love, Poetry and Song stage will also be graced by the celestial sounds of gospel group Divine Harmony. Formerly known as The Alexandra Beacons Select, but renamed when most of its members graduated from the school, the group specialises in contemporary and reggae gospel, as well as inspirational selections.

Founded and directed by Shernell Clarke, a teacher at the school, the sextet boasts NIFCA awards, appearances at NIFCA Galas, was the only school group selected to perform at the NCF’s Crop-Over Gospel Concert 2012 and was the opening act for the Barbados Music Awards 2013.

Love, Poetry and Song seeks to use the arts to communicate important messages relevant to HIV and AIDS with artistes employing theatre, dance, spoken word and vocal performances.
