Penelope Hynam (Producer)
Penelope Hynam (Producer) and Pelle Hybbinette (Director) of Sea Weaver Productions Inc. have won a prestigious Award of Merit from the Best Shorts Competition, based in California.
The Award was given for “Izebo”, Episode #5 of Sea Weaver’s exciting short documentary series, “A Day in a Bajan Life” . It featured the talented homeless street artist Izebo, who sadly has died before he could learn of the award.
“It is a honour to be recognized by such a prestigious global competition, which has hundreds of submissions from around the world and to join with Martinique as the only Caribbean country in the awards,” said Producer Penelope Hynam. “We dedicate this award to Izebo, whose big soul and talent are the heart of the film”.
Director Pelle Hybbinette said:” “Meeting Izebo and taking part of his world and views has changed me thoroughly. In Sweden, we
talk about underdeveloped countries. Izebo looked at Europe and talked about Babylon, the western world, as overdeveloped countries, with unhealthy consumerism, greed and
stressed lifestyles. With the ongoing financial crisis, it’s easy to see his point. He was a wise man and I am proud to have been his friend. May he rest in peace. I give thanks for the award.”
