The old adage says that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this could not be truer for children, who need healthy, nutritious, balanced breakfast to start their day right.

Recognising this need through its Adopt-a-Cause programme, CIBC FirstCaribbean came to the aid of the Christ the King Breakfast Feeding programme and recently donated a number of food items which will add healthy choices to the menu.

Tony Bourne, a member of the feeding programme expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that the programme could not exist without such aid.

“The Christ the King Breakfast Feeding Programme is very thankful and appreciative of the donation of food items which will be a great help to the children,” Bourne said.

The six year old programme caters to an average of 25 children every week day morning during the school year. Started by the Care Committee of the church, Bourne explained, recently they have been seeing an increase in the number of children who come to breakfast each morning. Therefore, the bank’s donation was timely.

Director of Corporate Communications at CIBC FirstCaribbean, Debra King, said that the Corporate and Internal Communications Department was pleased to assist.

“The Adopt-a-Cause programme has positively impacted the day-to-day running of institutions that have asked for assistance and received our support. Whether it is a financial donation or a display of voluntarism by the bank’s employees, Adopt-a-Cause represents one of the primary ways in which the CIBC FirstCaribbean family provides assistance to the community.”

Besides the donation of breakfast items, the bank also donated 16 vouchers valued at $100 each, which will be distributed to needy families in the area.

Through its wider community giving effort, CIBC FirstCaribbean has also entered into an agreement with the Young Women’s Christian Association to provide assistance to that organisation’s national breakfast programme.
