A Barbadian man who was charged with drug trafficking in Jamaica was freed when he appeared in court yesterday.
Darnell McArthur Browne was charged on Wednesday, after the police intercepted a vehicle in which he was a passenger and seized 17 pounds of ganja. Two other men were also detained.
Browne was travelling to the Norman Manley International Airport at the time.
In court, the driver of the car, Courtney Lewis, took responsibility for the ganja which was found in the trunk of the vehicle.
Browne’s attorney, Oswest Senior Smith, applied to the Magistrate to release his client, arguing there was no connection between him and the vehicle.
The Barbadian and another accused, Samuels Hall, were released.
