Digicel reaffirms cancer fight

Members of the Digicel (Barbados) Limited staff adorned in various shades of pink, in addition to wearing the official Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon to mark World Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

The staff of Digicel (Barbados) Limited have come together to show their unwavering support for the fight against Breast Cancer.

Today, the Digicel office at Hastings, Christ Church “turned pink” as employees wore various shades of the official Breast Cancer Awareness colour to mark World Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

Throughout the month of October, which is recognized globally as Breast Cancer Awareness month, Digicel will be showcasing their support through a number of activities.

This has already commenced with a fund drive throughout the company, with staff purchasing a significant batch of Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons from the Barbados Cancer Society, in order to facilitate a sizable donation to that organization’s Breast Screening Programme.

CEO of Digicel (Barbados) Limited, Barry O’Brien, lauded the staff’s recognition of this important issue, noting that Breast Cancer is something which touches everyone in some way:

“We at Digicel recognise the seriousness of this issue and are very sensitive to its impact on the lives of individuals, especially women, who make up a significant portion of our workforce. It is in this context that we will continue to support the fight against Breast Cancer by encouraging our staff to pay close attention to their health in addition to assisting the local Society where possible.”

Later in the month Management will be giving each and every staff member, both male and female, the opportunity to be screened for signs of Breast Cancer, by soliciting the services of the Breast Screening Programme’s Mobile Breast Clinic.
