Government offices, businesses and households in a busy section of St. Michael were without electrical power for much of today after a vehicle struck a utility pole early this morning.
The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited said power had been restored to customers in Beckles Road, the Bayland, Bay Street, Chelsea Road and Dunlow Lane around 2:45 this afternoon.
“The Barbados Light & Power Company wants to thank the travelling public for its cooperation today, Friday, December 21, 2012 and to inform that the section of Highway 7 near the Beckles Road junction has been reopened,” BL&P said.
“This junction was closed from around 2 a.m. this morning after a vehicle struck and broke a utility pole, making the road impassable. Soon after the accident, Light & Power crews were on the job to replace the pole and associated lines.
“The road was reopened around 2 p.m. this afternoon and supply to the affected electricity customers in the vicinity of Beckles Road, the Bayland, Bay Street, Chelsea Road and Dunlow Lane, was restored around 2:45 p.m.
The company apologised to customers, motorists and other affected individuals for the inconvenience. (SC)
