Thirty-year-old Ansley Lamar Worrell, who was arrested and charged for the offence of robbing Senator Maxine McClean, appeared before Magistrate Graveney Bannister in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court today.
Worrell, of #117, Woodbourne Park, St Philip, also faced additional charges including two counts of making off without payment; one count of theft of number plate; one count of unlawful possession of cannabis; and one count of assault.
Worrell, who was represented by attorney-at-law- Shadia Simpson, pleaded guilty to the robbery and assault charges and was remanded to prison until April 6, 2018, pending a presentencing report.
He was further remanded to reappear in the District ‘C’ and District ‘B’ Courts respectively, on March 13 and 14 on the other offences.
Senator McClean was robbed on Saturday, February 10, whilst at University Drive, Black Rock, St Michael.
She had visited the RBC Royal Bank of Canada at University Drive around 3:30 p.m. to use the automatic teller machine when she was attacked and robbed.
