Super Centre Warrens expansion set for August

Work on the creation of a combination store at the Warrens Super Centre complex is expected to start in August.

Managing Director Neville Brewster made the disclosure this afternoon, while adding to an earlier announcement that the transformed property would include the sale of appliances, hardware and other items outside of groceries.

While not going into details, Brewster confirmed that businesses in the food store upstairs the complex, would be moved out.

He was speaking at the end of the launch of the DaCosta Mannings Classic Credit Card, which will now be used at all Super Centre stores.

“Today’s launch marks a huge leap in the evolution of our credit offering for Neal & Massy Barbados, because we are taking a credit offering, which up to yesterday, was only used in one retail format at DaCosta Manning retail,” said chairman designate for Consumer Finance at Neal & Massy, Curtis Tobal in his remarks to the gathering at Warrens Super Centre.

“And today, we are now extending it to Super Centre, thereby integrating the food and home goods value propositions, which are now linked by a common credit facility – the Classic Card,” added Tobal.

He explained that customers would now be able to move seamlessly between buying goods as varied as fridges and furniture, to flour and fresh produce with their card. He noted that this facility was now customised to the consumer’s lifestyle and offered a wide range of benefits.

The business executive gave examples that included value in terms of convenience and flexibility, whereby one could pay for ones items using a range of flexible payment options; savings with respect to immediate rewards and discounts on purchases; and value with regards to choices.

“We believe that the launch of this exciting new offer which is being piloted in Barbados, will provide a platform for growth for the Barbados businesses and create a model which we will be replicating in our retails formats across the region,” reported Tobal.

The launch also meant that about 21,000 DaCosta Mannings customers would now be able to use their Classic Cards to charge much more than furniture, appliances, hardware and household items.

The company said the card can also be used at Knights Pharmacy locations, with customers being able to “take it now, and pay later”. (EJ)†
