Damario Bynoe has been in tremendous form this year and the seven-pound claiming apprentice looks likely to continue that form at the Garrison Savannah tomorrow, 11th day of the Barbados Turf Club’s first season of racing for 2013.
The youngster is leading in the jockey’s title race with 12 wins to date and he can increase that by as many as four wins tomorrow, including taking the day’s feature race, the A Mother Knows Best Handicap†for three-years-old†and older horses rated 67 to 105 -†also for those horses rated 66 and below.
Bynoe will be astride the Anderson†Ward-trained Vitality, who, with Purr Class (also trained by Ward),†will be taking along the joint top weight of 133 pounds.
The Blue Diamond Racing owned Vitality†has gone without a win for just over six months, but he looks likely of putting that behind him tomorrow by taking the day’s feature race.
The five-year-old’s last win over the trip was on September 1 last year when, with Antonio Whitehall aboard,†he defeated Zoom by five-and-a-half lengths.
Vitality looks set to return to the winner’s enclosure tomorrow, and he could be chased home by stablemate and Purr ClassRun Alke Run.
Bynoe could get the day off to a winning start by taking the opening The Grand Mothers Handicap for three-years-old and older horses rated 50 to 70, and 49 and below, with the Johnathan Simpson-trained Fernandina.
Despite stepping up in class here, Fernandina can benefit from Bynoe’s seven-pound apprentice claim and land this 1570 metres event.
Actually, she can make it two successive wins as she had won her last start on April 20, which was also over tomorrow’s distance of 1570 metres.
Fernandina was ridden by Rickey Walcott on that occasion, but Walcott has opted to partner Vandross in tomorrow’s race.
The Bynoe-Simpson combination could also team up to land The Mummy’s Little Princess Handicap for West Indian bred three-year-old maiden fillies with Zouk’s Girl.
Zouk’s Girl finished a close second behind Verden over 1100 metres last race day, and the step up to 1570 metres should be to her advantage tomorrow.
Bynoe’s fourth possible win could come via the Boston John-trained Stratfords Lad in The Mummy’s Favourite Boy Handicap for three-year-old maidens (colts and geldings), going 1100 metres.
Stratfords Lad (Race 4) could provide trainer John with a possible hat-trick of victories as he seems to have an outstanding chance of landing The God Mothers Handicap (Race 2) with Domineering and The Single Moms Handicap (Race 3) with Shared Decision.
