Combermere lose on home turf

Combermere were on the losing end again at their Waterford, St Michael home court on Friday, this time going down 28-19 to Graydon Sealy in a low-scoring encounter in the Co-operators General Insurance-sponsored National Sports Council’s Schools Under-16 Basketball Tournament.

Both teams had offensive games they would rather forget with the half-time scoreline showing an abysmal 11-6 in Graydon Sealy’s favour. While the winners stepped up their game a bit in the second half, Combermere’s offence still failed to click. Sharmar Steele’s nine points were the most on either side.

At Church Hill, Ellerslie dished out a severe 73-26 beating on home team, Foundation. Ellerslie led throughout and at the half were up 37-14. They were admirably marshaled by Jamali Holder who scored 24 points and got good assistance from Delano Watson with 18 points, and Jeshawn Alleyne who scored 14.

Nathaniel Waithe was Foundation’s leading scorer with 15 points.
