New BFA headquarters taking shape

FIFA development officer for the South East Caribbean, Howard McIntosh, visited the Barbados Football Association’s administrative building (Goal Project II) at Wildey, St. Michael yesterday.

He was in Barbados to inspect the progress of the facility and to meet with stakeholders in football. While on his visit he was also a guest on 94.7 FM’s popular radio show, Football Fiesta, hosted by Andy Thornhill.

During the radio show McIntosh expanded on the purpose of his visit. He spoke about the developments in football and the various avenues for self-development in the sport. McIntosh highlighted the opportunities for young footballers, boys and girls, to attain a university education through the sport. In addition, he mentioned the launch of the FIFA Grassroots program which is aimed at developing football skills in young children between the ages of 6 and 12.

Listeners were also able to learn of the various competitions that Barbados’ national teams are likely to participate in during 2015 and early 2016. Competitions such as the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships in El Salvador, the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifiers in March, the CONCACAF Boys Under 15 Championship, Olympic Qualifiers and the 2016 CONCACAF Women’s Under 17 Championship.
