Barbados will be represented by a five-man shooting team at the upcoming International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Handgun World Shoot XVIII to be held at the National Shooting Sport Center Range in Chateauroux, France, from August 27 to September 3 2017.

The team was selected at the conclusion of the recently held IPSC Barbados qualifiers, at the Barbados Rifle Association’s Paragon range. Adrian Marshall emerged victorious, followed by Rodney Clarke, to secure the two available slots in the production division. In the standard division, Sean Banfield topped the standings, with Richard Durant placing second, to determine the four slots that were allocated to Barbados for this International Level V competition.

Kevin Grant, regional director for the IPSC Barbados region, will lead the team and also compete in the production division, as well as being the representative for the Barbados region at the IPSC General Assembly.

The reserve qualifiers are Ryan Best, in the production division, and Gerard Gill in the standard division.

The IPSC Handgun World Shoot XVIII is the highest level handgun match within IPSC, and will attract more than fifteen hundred competitors from all over the world, competing over several days and firing over five hundred rounds of ammunition, while navigating over 30 separate, challenging courses of fire. The IPSC Handgun World Shoots are held every third year, on a rotational cycle, with the other IPSC disciplines.
