“This form of the game gives young cricketers the opportunity to showcase their talent to the people at home and to the rest of the world via television, playing in the LCPL should improve our players and make them better,” the former West Indies captain told journalists at a press briefing at Kensington Oval today on the eve of the Antigua Hawksbills match against Barbados Tridents tomorrow.
Sir Vivian said T20 cricket was a spontaneous game and those who played it should be able to think on their feet.
He added he was impressed by the way the Barbados Tridents had played against the St. Lucia Zouks in the tournament’s opening match last night.
“That game should have taught players and coaches there is no set plan in this form of the game. Captains and coaches should have learnt that a T20 game must be played according to the position the match,” Sir Vivian said.
He added that teams could only gain from the inclusion of international players in their line-ups. He noted the members of his team would gain from playing alongside Ricky Pointing. (DH)
